Syron Qmail
About
Syron Qmail is a distribution based on Netqmail which
itself is based on Qmail by D. J. Bernstein.
Syron Qmail tries to unify several public available patches to include almost
all modern mail server features into qmail. The current problem with a qmail
installation is the need to apply several patches which are in some cases completely
incompatible (e.g. qmail-sql vs. the rest). Why this may be alright
for most qmail administrators, it is confusing for beginners and even
experience people to get a running qmail with all the features that a
modern mail server should have. While there are several distributions
out there which provide such a feature rich qmail, this distribution relies on
the patches of the qmail community only without using script languages or other
technics to extend qmail. This distribution uses these already existing patches
and unifies them into one, doing only minor, compatible adjustments to
harmonize the running of all patches in one qmail system. No other
language then C is used and because of the unification philosophy,
syron qmail is offered in two version as distribution package including
netqmail and all the used patches (the same way netqmail does it) and
as patch only package.
